The first day of school for Garfield Early Childhood Center is Monday, August 21. The morning session will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11:35 a.m. The afternoon session will start at 12:15 p.m. and end at 3:20 p.m.
There will be an open house on Thursday, August 17 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. The open house provides parents the opportunity to become familiar with their child's school, teacher, and classroom.


A free developmental screening clinic will be held Friday, August 18 for children ages 3 to 5 who are residents of Garden City. The screening will take approximately an hour and a half. Trained professionals will check each child's hearing, vision, large and small muscle development, communication, and thinking skills. Appointments may be made by calling the Garfield Early Childhood Center at 620-805-7500.



The first day of the 23-24 school year is Tuesday, August 15. All elementary (Kindergarten-5th), 7th, 9th, and 10th grade students, as well as any student new to the district will begin with a half day orientation on August 15. Sixth graders at Abe Hubert, Jennie Barker, and Plymell are also encouraged to attend school that day, but won't be counted absent if they don't attend.

All staff members will be in our Back to School Inservice on Friday, August 11. Schools and district offices will be closed from 8:00-10:30 a.m. and will reopen shortly after the inservice ends.

Start and end times at all schools have been updated for the 2023-24 school year. Per the negotiated agreement between the district and the Garden City Education Association, daily student contact time decreased 20 minutes.

Parents, the first day of school is right around the corner! If you still need to enroll your child, you can do so at their school or online. We encourage you to call your child's school prior to arriving as some offices are unavailable due to facilities projects.

Thank you to all families who finalized their enrollment this week! If you weren't able to attend the Enrollment Event, there is still time to get your child ready for the 2023-24 school year. Staff will be back in their buildings July 24. The District Enrollment Office is open Monday - Thursday from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.


Today is the last day of our Enrollment Event! Come to Horace Good Middle School before 2:00pm if you haven't finalized your child's enrollment for the 23-24 school year or if you would like to apply for additional services.
